Sometimes, the names of certain addresses carry all there is to know. Castel Beau Site is one such example. A 4* hotel in the H8 Collection hotel group, it hides out of view, toes gracing the water, in a small cove of Perros-Guirec. The town is located in the heart of the Pink Granite Coast, in Brittany. All around, nature is wild, untamed, exploding with stones, pines, and wild grass. The breath of the sea spray is powerful, the taste of salt floats in the air. Waters are crystalline, turquoise on sunny days, turbulent when the tide runs high. The village of Ploumanac’h is very close and Perros-Guirec is less than an hour away via the mythical and magnificent Sentier des douaniers (GR34).
THE BUILDING, set on the beach, is not a genuine “castel,” nor does it attempt to be play castle. On the other hand, even the most indifferent will agree, the site is… beautiful (“beau” in French) and has given its name to the site since its conception in 1928. Initially a simple boarding house, the building was requisitioned by the Germans during the Second World War before becoming a vacation center for the military of the Ministry of Defense.
Having joined the H8 Collection pavilion with a renovation in 2018, decorator Natalia Megret rearranged the spaces into a lively vacation home that celebrates the colors of Brittany (soft blue for the sea, white and black for the flag, slightly pinkish beige echoing the coastal paths) with chic and casual energies. There is rattan and striped fabric for the beach spirit, fun delegations of color to mark the spaces, large black stripes painted on the walls and pretty design throughout. Everywhere you turn, large openings allow you to look out over the ocean.
The 32 BEDROOMS AND SUITES are spread across three floors. All of them have a frontal or lateral view of the waves. Books are readily available for rainy or windy days. The rest of the time, linger on the terraces to enjoy the ballet of boats returning to the port of Ploumanac’h before going down to the beach and digging your feet into the sand.
