No need to tiptoe through a distant forest to hear the cuckoo’s call. We’ve found the rare bird! Fly to Savoie, towards the Tarentaise Valley and Meribel, in the heart of the Three Valleys domain. There, freshly hatched from its egg, Le Coucou awaits your arrival. This 5* hotel has 55 extra-large rooms and suites, the smallest of which are 30 m2, with balconies and terraces perched high above the ground. In Méribel, the address has perfectly positioned its eagle’s nest on the side of the splendid mountain view.
FROM THE OUTSIDE AND DESPITE ITS 10 FLOORS, its hotel-chalet plumage blends perfectly into the landscape of the resort once popularized by architect Charlotte Perriand. Inside… prepare to have your feathers ruffled! It’s a birdsong of another sort! Interior designer Pierre Yovanovitch chose to shatter the standard mountain hotel cliché. In its place, the atmosphere is a fun chic, artfully gliding the slope of a whimsical, yet select decor. In the lobby, a circle of benches is covered with an owl fresco by Matthieu Cossé. Color (terracotta, fir green, Savoy red, mustard yellow…) nestles everywhere, interacting with mottled, contemporary (ceramic cuckoo clocks, ice cube-sized hanging lamps…) or quirky pieces (furniture with bird’s feet, carpets with snowflakes…), works of art borrowed from the owners, the Pariente family, or curated by gallery owner Amélie du Chalard.
A BIRD OF PARADISE FOR BIG SKI LOVERS, Le Coucou also has ski in/ski out access, a luxury ski-room where your equipment will be taken care of after each outing, a 450 m2 Tata Harper spa, a kid’s club, two restaurants, a bar, a smoking room…. Honestly, doesn’t it make you want to spread your wings?
