Give into temptation with a duo of cocktails to sip at the bar.
Before stepping foot into 116 rue du Temple, take note, it is time to forget everything that you know about Parisian hotels. Baptized by flame and fantasy, this stayover is dubbed the Sinner – a remarkable address turned master in the art of storytelling.
BEHIND ITS RADICAL, ALMOST MONASTIC FACADE, the interior offers a sensual decor bathed in chiaroscuro. Sequenced and skillfully staged by designer Tristan Auer, the hotel (Evok Collection) revisits the history, heritage, ecclesiastical and mystical qualities of the neighborhood and the building. As soon as you enter, the crypt, doubled as a confessional, sets the tone. Aglow with candlelight, it plays into the space as a cabinet of curiosities and arouses astonishment, summoning the legends and treasures of the Knights Templar.
AS IF REMOVED FROM THE WORLD, hidden from outside view by artfully placed stained glass windows, the Sinner dials its dream machine to the max, generating a glamorous, singular atmosphere. Accursedly otherworldly. Each stay is an invitation to another existence, brazen and sensory, giving pride of place to warm, tactile materials (velvet, wood, terracotta…) that stimulate the senses and stir the soul.
ALLURING, THE 43 ROOMS await obediently behind real-false antique doors dressed with knockers and peepholes. Inside, designer furniture, vinyl records (selected by Fred Viktor), antique objects, works of art (curated by Amélie du Chalard – Maison d’Art) and beautiful books (by Anatole Desachy) cast the scene: a chic, intimate vibe evoking a sumptuous bachelor pad.
A SULPHUROUS, PIQUANT AURA envelops the restaurant, where chef Adam Benthala officiates as high priest of a shareable cuisine with Mediterranean indulgences, the bar, a temple of adventurous mixology (don’t miss the house cocktails Memento, Cœur Pourpre or Noma…), as well as the spa. Concealed behind a spiked nail door, the latter is the hotel’s most worshiped secret. Inspired by Greco-Roman baths, Ablutio, as it is called, persuades you to release your earthly anchors through a series of facial rituals by Orveda and body treatments imagined by masseur Jimmy Jarnet.
